The Capital Market Team

James is a fixed interest product specialist with extensive experience in financial markets. He is currently Executive Director and Co-Head of Income Asset Management (IAM) - Capital Markets Division.

Prior to joining IAM, James was a founding member of MINT Partners Australia, a division of global broker BGC Partners; establishing the division in 2015 and growing AUM to over $1 billion in fixed income assets under management in 2020. James began his career in fixed income markets at FlIG Securities, advancing to Head of Middle-Market & Institutional client coverage.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), a Bachelor Business (Finance), and a Diploma of Financial Markets (Debt and RG146) from the Australian Financial Markets Association.

Kyle brings a wealth of Fixed Income and financial markets experience. He is currently Executive Director and Co-Head of Income Asset Management (IAM) – Capital Markets Division (ASX Code :IAM)

Prior to joining IAM, Kyle held sales and execution roles at FIIG Securities, National Australia Bank and BGC Fixed Income Solutions. Kyle began his financial markets career at Macquarie Bank.

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and a Diploma of Financial Markets (Debt and Equity) from the Australian Financial Markets Association.

Jenna Hayes is the Head of Sales at IAM Capital markets. Jenna has extensive experience and knowledge of the financial markets in Australia, having spent time in a number of institutions.

Jenna joined the team at IAM after working at UBS, FIIG, and Deutsche Bank across Equities, Credit, and FX. At UBS, Jenna worked on the equities desk in Sydney, which ranked #1 as the top Australian cash equities sales desk at the time. At Deutsche Bank, Jenna worked in foreign exchange sales, which gave her experience on trading floors in London, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong. Jenna graduated from the University of Sydney with a combined Commerce/Law degree and a major in Accounting. During her studies, Jenna completed a semester at the University of California.

Jenna currently sits on the Finance sub-committee of the Good Sams Foundation.

Tim is a specialist capital markets executive with over fifteen years’ experience in banking and financial services across business banking, futures trading and fixed income markets. Tim currently holds the position of Executive Director within the Capital Markets division of Income Asset management (IAM). Prior to working with IAM Tim performed roles with CBA , JP Morgan and FIIG Securities. More recently Tim held the position of Executive Manager within the Fixed Income team at the global broker BGC Partners (NASDAQ: BGCP). Tim holds a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Sydney.

Cameron is a member of the IAM Capital Markets executive leadership team. An experienced fixed income professional, Cameron assists both private and institutional clients in creating and managing diversified bond portfolios, seeking out value and opportunity to maximise returns.

Cameron has worked exclusively in Fixed Income markets for over a decade, and is passionate about educating investors on this defensive asset class. He holds a Double Degree in Business and Applied Science, and also a Diploma of Financial Markets.

Peter has over 30 years of Fixed Income experience. Currently Executive Director Fixed Income with Asset Management (ASX : IAM) based in Melbourne servicing Victoria, South Australia & Tasmania.

Peter started his Fixed Income journey at Westpac in 1987 in the Melbourne Dealing Room, with stints in Sydney in the short-term Fixed Income team including Corporate Paper & Adelaide as Head of Fixed Income.

In 2004 he established FIIG Securities in Melbourne in a solo capacity for the Queensland owners which grew to a 30 strong team. In 2018 Peter joined global broker BGC as Director of Fixed Income.

Peter’s passion is in Fixed Income distribution especially helping private investors setup & manage their Investment portfolios.

Peter holds a Diploma of Financial Markets though the countless Fixed Income courses across 30 years have been the driver of his Fixed Income expertise.

Matthew’s current responsibilities include providing credit commentary/views on the bond market and specific credit issuers with the aim of aiding investors to make better risk-return decisions. He is also part of a team of four within the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team, which provides corporates, financials, property, and infrastructure companies with flexible funding solutions.

Prior to joining Income Asset Management, Matthew spent eight years working as a Senior Credit Portfolio Manager at Aberdeen Standard, where he was responsible for the credit portfolio construction and security selection across a wide range of investment-grade/high-yield, financial and non-financial sectors. Reporting directly to the Head of Australian Fixed Income, he oversaw a team of four and was the team’s ESG specialist.

Matthew has executed 1, 3, and 5-year credit-strategies that have been consistently above benchmark.

Matthew began his career at KPMG working in Auditing and Assurance within the consumer and industrials group and then spent six years at Colonial First State Global Asset Management as a Fixed Income Credit Analyst.

Matthew holds a Masters of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UNSW.

Varuna has more than 15 years’ experience in the financial markets and finance industry. He is currently the Director of Fixed Income Sales at Income Asset Management.
Before joining IAM, Varuna dedicated over 12 years of his career to National Australia Bank, where he was involved in various financial markets divisions. These included private capital markets, financial markets (FX/IRRM), institutional credit sales, sub institutional investor sales, loan syndications, treasury operations, and strategic projects. In 2019, following a successful tenure at NAB, Varuna played a crucial role in the establishment of a property tech company based in Melbourne. Additionally, he worked closely with several family offices in the setup process of their funds management business to enable co-investment in opportunities.
Varuna graduated with a Bachelor of Business, specializing in Economics and Finance, from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).

Jacob joined the team at IAM in August 2020, bringing 7 years of experience in fixed income markets. He leverages this expertise within the Capital Market sales team, working closely with advisers, private clients, and family offices assisting with their fixed income investments.

Jacob began his career in 2015, finding success at Curve Securities before later joining FIIG securities - there he managed an extensive portfolio of HNW clients and financial advisers. Jacob’s expertise and knowledge is coupled with his desire to comprehend and understand a client’s goals - he understands that no two cases are the same, and each one represents unique opportunities.

Jacob attended Western Colorado University on a basketball scholarship, where he attained his bachelor’s in economics. Jacob is RG146 accredited and earned a diploma of financial markets through AFMA - this unique and competitive background has afforded Jacob a multi-faceted perspective when working with clients.

Peter joined IAM in September 2021. Peter brings 6 years of experience in fixed income markets, having worked in roles across trading, sales, origination, client service and operations. At IAM, Peter works in fixed income sales, assisting institutional, NFP, middle market and private client investors to manage their fixed income investments.

Peter began in the financial markets at BGC Fixed Income in 2017, progressing to the trading desk and origination team. Before that, Peter was a graduate lawyer working in commercial and criminal law in Sydney. Peter has considerable experience in client facing roles which allows him to understand and exceed client objectives.

Peter holds a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from ANU and is admitted as a lawyer in NSW. Peter is also RG146 accredited having gained a Diploma of Financial Markets (Debt Markets Specialisation) through AFMA.

Adam is an Associate Director based in Brisbane and is responsible for assisting his clients in building and managing their fixed income portfolios. His role also encompasses engaging new relationships on behalf of the group.

Adam joined IAM in August 2021, having spent four years working for a global financial services company, where he held roles across client services, fixed income sales and portfolio management.

Adam holds a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Finance from the Queensland University of Technology.

Darryl is a fixed income specialist who has spent almost 25 years working in the financial markets. After graduating from university in New Zealand, Darryl worked in Auckland at UDC Finance, an asset financing subsidiary of ANZ, as a credit analyst. He then moved to England where the majority of his 13 years there was spent as a corporate bond fund manager for a 200-year-old Private Bank. This included the period before, during and after the Global Financial Crisis, which was a particularly interesting time in the investment markets. Since arriving in Perth in 2013, Darryl spent 10 years as WA State Manager at FIIG Securities helping to build the business from a standing start. He is passionate about the fixed income asset class and enjoys educating investors about the role it can play in well diversified investment portfolios.

David joined IAM in January 2022 and is currently an Associate Director based in Melbourne. He is responsible for bond portfolio reporting/oversight and plays a key role in supporting the seamless delivery of originated/syndicated loan investments for IAM clients.
Prior to joining IAM, David was a Senior Investment Operations Analyst in the Unlisted Investments and Cash team at Powerwrap/Praemium, a wrap platform targeted to HNW and UHNW clients. David worked with boutique advice businesses to service client portfolios where he was responsible for a range of duties including end to end trade processing, corporate actions, transfers, reporting and process enhancements.
David holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) from RMIT University and a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.

Luke has worked with top wealth managers and financial advisers to provide tailored investment solutions in fixed income and portfolio management.
Luke holds a Finance degree from Deakin University and is RG146 accredited, dedicated to delivering exceptional service and building lasting partnerships.

Ellen is an Associate Director at IAM Capital Markets. She has extensive experience in the financial sector, both in Australia and South Africa.
Ellen gained much of her experience working for 10 years at Marriott Asset Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Old Mutual investment group in South Africa. There, she focused on delivering income solutions to retired investors, with bonds forming a significant part of their investment strategy. Ellen started at Marriott as an Investment Consultant. She progressed into an executive role as Head of Distribution, where she managed the national sales team and relationships with local and international distribution channels. After taking several years off to focus on raising her two boys and settling into her new home in Australia, Ellen resumed her career in finance in 2020, specifically in the world of corporate bonds.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an Honours degree in Business, majoring in Financial Management.

Victor has been in financial markets in Melbourne, Sydney, London and Hong Kong for over 35 years, specialising in Interest rates and foreign exchange and derivatives, with numerous banks and global broking companies.

Victor holds a degree in Economics from Monash University and is a member of the AICD. Additionally, Victor has demonstrated experience as a responsible manager and company director.

Nicholas joined IAM in April 2024 as a Dealer Assistant, based in Melbourne. In his role, he supports investors in managing their fixed income investments while providing comprehensive assistance to dealers.
Nicholas actively participates in facilitating trading activities and ensures the seamless execution of transactions. He is also actively involved in generating leads and delivering outstanding client service, offering a diverse range of investment options and bespoke portfolio solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of each investor.
Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Finance from Deakin University

Patrick joined IAM in April 2023 having previously had experience in Securities Services and Fixed Income. Patrick assists in providing clients with ongoing support to manage their Fixed Income investments, with a focus on timeliness and accuracy. Patrick began his career at J.P. Morgan in Custodial Services before moving to Market Operations in 2021. Patrick looks to leverage this knowledge as part of the Capital Markets team, utilising these skills to help deliver solutions to clients. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Accounting) at University of Technology Sydney as well as RG146 accreditation.

Marsha Desouza is an Associate Director in the Capital Markets team at IAM, with deep expertise in Australia’s financial markets.
Marsha joined Income Asset Management after working at Austraclear (ASX) and CMC Markets, where she assisted investors in managing their derivatives positions. Her experience spans multiple asset classes, including fixed income futures, commodities, equities, indices, currencies, and cryptocurrencies.
With a Commerce degree majoring in Finance and Accounting from Macquarie University, Marsha combines technical expertise with a client-centric approach, helping investors navigate the complexities of capital markets, while tailoring solutions to their unique financial goals.

Craig has more than 25 years of experience in investment markets, which includes Global Head of Macquarie Group’s Global Investments unit.
He is one of Australia’s most highly regarded FinTech investment and strategy experts. Craig has built businesses in 14 countries across funds management, wealth, insurance and banking, and advises and invests in a portfolio of 12 high-growth companies, from early stage companies and rapidly scaling FinTechs.
